Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas to all the faithful (or even sporadic) followers of Talking Kelso. Here’s hoping 2010 is a year to remember…for good reasons!

Breaking the Ground on 432

The Wye interchange is soon going to be underway, and to get things started, the Dept. Of Transportation held a groundbreaking ceremony Friday. The usual suspects were on hand, with speakers including State Reps Blake and Orcutt, a representative from the governor’s office, and both of the mayors.

This project is key to opening up the commercial property south of Tennant Way for development, which will provide much-needed jobs and revenue for Kelso. If all goes to plan, we’ll be able to shop for next Christmas in the new center.

A neat part of the ceremony came when it was time to turn the first shovel on the project. My youngest son had joined me for the afternoon, and Don Wagner of WSDOT invited him to join us with an extra shovel. So there were politicos, transportation folks and an eight-year-old digging in when the time came!

My son helps us dig in at the kickoff of the 432 Interchange project
